#Gnome is about to split #Fractal into two different apps.
It really makes sense to me, because I saw the same problem and decided to go for #Signal & #Matrix instead of two clients for Matrix.
There are more reasons that come into play, but that was definitely one of them.

@sheogorath hey thanks for sharing. Not sure I'd have seen it otherwise!
I've been using Fractal every single day lately. This split makes sense to me, too. Must be so hard for them to keep the simple/clean UI with power user needs.
@sheogorath that’s what tabs are for... stupid idea to split it into two apps
@ices
I don't know if "stupid" is the right term here.
Using tabs is just another kind of design and can be critizied for other reasons.
At the end of the day it's a question of taste. Like having specialized applications vs multi-messengers.
There is no right answer here ^^ It's about (personal) preferences.
But I'm sure if you want to participate in the Development, you can may bring this in ^^
@sheogorath I like the idea - I have always felt that the attempt to be IRC and WhatsApp rolled into one is a) awesome but also b) what leads to many challenges #Matrix is facing - on the UI side especially but also w.r.t. E2E encryption, performance etc.
I have solved this by having two separate Matrix accounts, one for high volume rooms (which I use on the PC) and one for private 1:1s (which I use on the phone), but of course this also isn’t ideal.
