I was thinking how to build a People's Search Engine. I'm reading "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism" by Shoshana Zuboff. If she is right, any free of charge service will eventually result in surveillance capitalism in any forms.
Either you pay for everything you need (Google Photo, Google Map, Google Search, YouTube), or someone pays it for you (open source alternatives, such as OSM, Firefox, while Linux being a special case), or you pay it in a way that even the leanest person wouldn't mind.
PeerTube might work, but p2p search engine kind of failed.
